Metered Parking on street

There are over 36,000 metered spaces, primarily located in business districts and high-traffic areas. Rates are set by the city and follow a tiered structure:

Downtown Loop: $7.00 per hour
Central Business District: $4.75 per hour
Most neighborhoods: $2.50 per hour

Payment can be made at modern electronic pay stations using credit/debit cards or coins, or via the ParkChicago app, which allows drivers to pay and extend time remotely. Most meters do not require a receipt to be displayed, as payment is linked to your license plate.

Metered parking is generally enforced Monday through Saturday, with many areas offering free parking on Sundays outside the central business district. Always check posted signs or the ParkChicago app for current rates and hours, as they can vary by location.
